Why Kaution exists

COR, the Certificate of Recognition, increasingly gates access to public and large private construction work in Ontario. Metrolinx, the City of Toronto, Infrastructure Ontario, and the TTC all require it or weight it heavily. For a small or mid-size contractor, not having COR doesn't just mean a lower safety score. It means getting bid out of work entirely.

The companies that need COR most are usually the ones least equipped to get it: no dedicated safety staff, no time to interpret a 161-question audit, and no budget for the $8,000-$25,000 a consultant engagement typically costs. Existing safety platforms track documents. None of them tell you, in plain terms, whether you'd actually pass an audit today, or what to do about it if you wouldn't.

Kaution was built to close that specific gap. It scores your company against the real IHSA COR 2020 audit tool, the same 14 elements, 161 questions, and 554 points an auditor uses, then helps you close what it finds, at a fraction of the cost of a traditional consultant engagement. A rule engine handles what can be checked deterministically, and AI fills in the rest.

We're starting with Ontario IHSA COR 2020 because it's where the need is sharpest and best understood. Other provinces and certification schemes are on the roadmap once the Ontario product is proven.
